Dear Families,
Here it goes…our first virtual homework! I hope that this new system will prove easy and useful. Homework will still be due Mondays and can be sent in the children’s blue folders. Good luck downloading and let me know how it goes. This is new for me as well so your feedback is helpful. And, by all means, let me know if you need a paper copy.
Just a few notices this week…
1) Our trip to the transit museum is this Friday. Each child needs to bring in $8 by Thursday to cover the cost of admission and lunch. We will eat pizza at the museum and will return to school for Jonah’s Special Day by 1:30 (latest!). Please do not send your child with lunch on Friday, unless, they do not eat pizza.
2) Thanks for all of the building supplies. Please continue to bring in BIG boxes. Our models will be larger than a shoebox. “Copy paper” boxes would be perfect. If you work in an office and can manage to bring some in we would love it. Also, we welcome any fabric, rug or plastic scraps you have lying around the house.
3) We are getting very low on baby wipes, cups and paper towels. Thank you to those who recently brought some in but we still need more. If you haven’t brought supplies in a while, please do so. We also need CRAYOLA MARKERS! Thanks.
4) I have been asked to go to two workshops in the near future. While these workshops provide useful professional development for our upcoming writing unit, I do worry about the class when I am away. This past Friday, I had to take a personal day and the kids had a really hard time. Please have a discussion with your child about days when there is a substitute and perhaps brainstorm strategies for getting through. You may also want to reiterate your expectations of your child when they are in school. Also, please give your child a “pep talk” at drop off. Sometimes a good talk at the beginning of the day really helps to get them focused and ready to learn.
