The PA represents all of the families in the school and exists to give all parents an active voice in the school and to offer support to the school, both through fundraising and through volunteerism to enrich the school's programs, instructional plans and classroom spaces.
Once a month, generally on a Thursday morning, the MSC community comes together for a general school-wide meeting that includes members of the administration. These meetings are open to everyone with a child attending MSC and are an excellent way to find out what’s happening in school. In addition to providing updates on school issues, the meetings provide an opportunity to pose questions to the administration and/or fellow parents, to express your thoughts and concerns about school matters and to provide feedback. If you cannot attend, minutes are published in the MSC Newsletter.
The PA Executive Board (President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer) meets monthly to conduct school business. Attendance is open to all parents, but the PA Executive Board requests that matters to be discussed be submitted in advance. Additionally, the full PA Board (Executive Board plus the At-Large members) meets monthly in the evenings to discuss a wider range of issues having to do with MSC committee endeavors. Again, attendance is open to all. The two types of PA meeting are staggered, two weeks apart. If you are unable to attend, minutes are available in Annie Kolpin’s office on the fifth floor.
