The Manhattan School for Children is a contiguous program from Kindergarten through Grade 8, maintaining throughout all grades a nurturing, child-centered spirit while meeting the developmental and academic needs of the student as he or she advances. We are what is considered a public choice school — admissions are done by lottery and open only to families living in District 3.
Applying to MSC/Lottery Information 2012-2013 School Year
Please download our Lottery Application and read the MSC Mission Statement and description of the MSC School Philosophy carefully before applying.
Tours are given each Friday at 9am starting in mid-October through December only. Please phone (212)222-1450 between the hours of 1and 2 pm ONLY to make an appointment. The tours last about 1 hour. We will begin making appointments on October 1st.
Applications for Grades 1-5 are accepted at any time. Families are notified by phone and email if they have won a seat at MSC. If you hear nothing, then your child is on a wait list. We do not notify families for Grades 1-5 until seats become available.
If you are applying for Grades 6-8 for the current year, you must contact the School Choice Office at (212)342-8320. They are in charge of placing children in those grades in District 3.
Please refer back to this website for more information. The volume of calls regarding the lottery are too numerous to return, and we will be updating information here frequently.
You will need the free program Adobe Reader to open the .pdf files.
